Osler Blood Bank Lecture 2016
In 2015, I completed a full 20 years of lecturing for the Osler Institute's Pathology Review Course. If you are thinking of attending the course in 2016 and are wondering whether or not I will be presenting the blood bank lectures, this page will give you a bit of information about my schedule.
The Osler Institute has announced their schedule for the first two Pathology Review Course sessions in 2016. I plan to be present to deliver the blood bank review lecture at the February 21-27 course in Los Angeles, and the April 4-10 course in Chicago. Typically, the Blood Bank lecture is on Thursday, but that has occasionally been changed.
When I started doing the Osler Blood Bank lecture, I was a young pathologist, fresh out of training, and full of arrogance and energy. I discovered that I absolutely LOVE teaching basic Transfusion Medicine, and that experience helped to shape my educational efforts for the rest of my career. Now, I'm an old dude, experienced and gray, and still full of energy (and hopefully not too much arrogance!). I still enjoy the interactions with course attendees, and I look forward to seeing some of you there.
Please believe me when I tell you that I'm not arrogant enough to believe that any of you are sitting at home saying, "If that Chaffin guy ain't talking, I ain't going!", but I just wanted to give you fair warning of when I will and won't be at the individual courses, in case you care! Check back here for updates. Thank you for your understanding.
